It may be an American-only holiday, but I think the idea of taking a day to reflect on what we should be grateful for is a healthy idea. So thanks for visiting this site. Scroll down to see all I'm thankful for this year.
For all of my family who have given me support while I've had to make many difficult choices in life. For their words of encouragement and the love I receive despite the miles we spend apart.
For all of my family whom I no longer speak to for teaching me that though blood is thicker than water, it isn’t worth working to keep ties with people who don't want you. For the life lessons I received in my past and the values that I may still hold dear.
Again for the love and support that help me see the value of a well-spent life. The laughs, the sorrow, the times we have shared and all the times in-between.
My role models for life. Their love for each other gave me hope for a better way even through two failed marriages. The values and confidence they instilled in me that have helped shape me into the man I am today.
Music was my best friend long before I had the skills to go out and make friends. The joy I get from playing my ukulele, or listening to the radio.
A hobby that became so much more to me. I'm thankful I learned to use a computer at an early age and continue to rejoice at the wealth of information that can be had through a computer.
While it may be nothing like anything I've known before, my home with its concrete walls and tiled floors still is filled with something else that I would have to go back to my early childhood to remember. A sense of belonging. A purpose as I help my wife’s ageing parents. And the wonderful talks we all have as we share the differences in ideas that come from such different cultures.
Most of all, my wife. For her giving me a renewed faith that love is real and can be the most rewarding feeling in the world. For her encouragement in all that I do (including this site). And so much more.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at AKAAWOL.com
