The Most Chaotic Bracelet I’ve Ever Designed? | Random Symmetry Challenge

Today we’re doing something wild.

This pattern uses 24 single strands, 4 colors, and absolutely no chill. 😂 Inspired by a Reddit user asking, “Can someone make a pattern out of randomness?” I decided to try.

We’re creating a bracelet that feels chaotic but is actually meticulously mirrored from left to right and top to bottom. Big color sweeps, little gestures, weird moments—all built from a single quarter of the grid, then reflected to complete the whole.

It’s psychedelic. It’s unpredictable. It’s a beast. And it’s totally doable—especially if you stop worrying about being perfect and just let the knots flow.

So, I actually knotted the chaotic bracelet from the last video—and here’s what happened.

This one’s based on a 24-string single-strand setup using four bold colors: deep red, bright yellow, hot orange, and electric blue. The design mirrors left to right AND top to bottom, which gives it a mesmerizing feel without being perfectly uniform.

Inspired by traditional South American designs with a freestyle vibe, I used the template to build a “random” pattern—but random with rules: don’t let any color dominate, keep balance, and make the chaos beautiful.

🕒 Time to make: 3.5 hours
🧵 Strings used: 4 skeins, each cut into thirds
⚒️ Difficulty: Intermediate to “Are You Okay?”
🎨 Style: freestyle symmetry, bold color blocking

🎯 Key takeaways:

  • Don’t stress about randomness—it’s just structured experimentation.
  • Mistakes will happen (I forgot a direction once—oops!), but they’re fixable.
  • This style could scale up to something like… a BAG 😱
