I Took Pattern #647… and Gave It a BIG Diamond Glow-Up!
Today we’re playing with Pattern #647 from friendship-bracelets.net and giving it a total makeover! 👀
It’s originally listed as a 6-color friendship bracelet pattern… but surprise — it really only uses FOUR colors in each section. So of course… we had to experiment. 😏
In this video, I:
- Rotate and rework the pattern layout
- Expand the tiny repeating diamond into a bold center diamond 💎
- Reassign all the colors (because we can!)
- Discover an extra unused string and turn it into a design feature
- Break down how to track string paths to solve “what color ends up where?”
This remix adds:
✔ 7 rows of dot accents in the center
✔ Zigzags that will absolutely test your tension control
✔ A bold color fade with a darker center pop
✔ Clean mirrored symmetry
This one is going to be FUN to knot — and yes… keeping tension consistent through those zigzags will be the real challenge 😅
Huge thank you to my YouTube Members who help fuel the string stash and make these experiments possible. You’re the best. ❤️

Today we’re making Pattern 647 from friendship-bracelets.net — but with a twist. 😏
This design is technically listed as six colors… yet it’s really a four-color bracelet doing most of the heavy lifting. So I modified the center to create a larger diamond and give it a little more personality.
🎨 The Color Lineup:
- Soft orange
- Red
- Chartreuse
- Black (center diamonds)
- Yellow + Silver (mostly at the ends 👀)
The red and chartreuse do most of the work, which means those strings end up much shorter by the finish. Since I cut my strings in thirds, there was still plenty for clean tassels — and pairing the short-with-short, long-with-long made braiding super easy at the end.
⏱️ Total time: About 1 hour
(Pretty standard for a 12-string bracelet for me.)
🧵 What Makes This One Fun
- 7 dot repeats before the center diamond
- Tons of zigzags (hello, tension consistency!)
- That therapeutic “work-right-until-you-can’t → switch-left” flow
- Perfect symmetry top and bottom
It’s not necessarily a beginner bracelet because of the zigzag control required — but if you’re ready to test your consistency, this one will absolutely level you up.
✂️ Pro Tips from This Make:
- Work close to your clip for consistent tension (especially with heavy zigzag patterns).
- Track repetitions (I use recording time as a rough halfway marker).
- Consider redistributing rarely-used colors to high-use ones if you’re worried about running short.
Would I change the yellow next time? Maybe.
Would a purple diamond instead of black look amazing? Also maybe. 👀
That’s the beauty of remixing patterns — you can always make it yours.
