I Simplified Pattern 1888 into 3 Colors… and THIS Happened
Today we’re taking pattern 1888 from friendship-bracelets.net… and completely rethinking it 👀
Instead of following the original 6-color setup, I break it down into 3 primary colors and rebuild the pattern from scratch to see what happens.
And honestly? The result was… unexpected 😅
In this video, we explore:
How to simplify complex patterns
Turning 6 colors into 3 clean color groups
Using dark + light variations for depth
Letting the pattern “reveal itself” as you build it
💡 The biggest surprise?
A long, bold center stripe that I didn’t even plan for—but actually works really well.
🎨 Color Strategy
Blue (dark + light)
Red (dark + light)
Yellow (dark + light)
Keeping it simple with primary colors made the design feel way more intentional.
🧠 Design Tip
Start with the easy connections first.
Once those are in place, the harder paths become MUCH easier to see.

This is the finished bracelet from pattern 1888—and this one surprised me in the best way 😄
Coming in at just under an hour, this design really flows. Once I got into the rhythm, everything just clicked—and the result is a super clean, balanced bracelet with a really unique center.
In this video, we talk about:
How the teardrop loop start changes the overall look
Why this pattern feels smoother than expected
The surprising balance of string usage
How color placement (hot vs cool) affects the final design
🎨 Color Setup
I used 3 primary colors (blue, red, yellow) with light and dark variations—and it gave off a really cool “classic comic” vibe.
💡 What surprised me most:
Even though the center yellow section looks dominant, all the strings ended up being used almost perfectly evenly.
🧠 Design Insight
Flipping and modifying patterns can completely change the feel of a bracelet.
This version ended up symmetrical with arrows going both directions—and honestly, it just works.
🧵 Tips from This Build
Try working one side at a time to build rhythm
Don’t be afraid to experiment with color order (light vs dark)
Small changes can lead to BIG visual differences

This one just clicked 😄
Pattern 1888 + a teardrop loop start =
✨ Super clean flow
✨ Bold center design
✨ Surprisingly balanced string usage
I went with primary colors (blue, red, yellow) and somehow it ended up giving off major classic comic vibes 🦸♂️
The coolest part?
That long yellow center looks dominant—but every color actually gets used evenly across the bracelet.
Also… this one took under an hour 👀
💬 Would you try flipping light/dark shades for a different look? I think that might be the next experiment…
