I Recreated a Pinterest Friendship Bracelet… But Better?

Sometimes inspiration comes from unexpected places… especially when friendship-bracelets.net is down! 😅

In today’s pattern design session, I found a bracelet on Pinterest that caught my eye and decided to adapt it into a 12-string friendship bracelet. The original design uses 10 strings, so I had to rethink the color placement, adjust the fade, and figure out how to make the diamonds work with two extra strings.

Along the way I talk through my design decisions, explain how I visualize string movement, and show how a few small changes can completely transform an existing idea into something new.

Tomorrow I’ll actually make the bracelet and we’ll find out whether it’s really as easy to knot as it looks!

Yesterday I redesigned a bracelet I found on Pinterest into a 12-string pattern. Today it’s time to find out if it actually knots as well as it looked on paper!

This bracelet creates a really satisfying effect by alternating darker and lighter sections throughout the pattern. The diamonds are formed mostly by the darker shades, while the lighter colors fill the spaces between them, creating a beautiful fade across the bracelet.

Although there are a few zigzag knots, this is one of the easier intermediate friendship bracelets I’ve made. If you’re comfortable with all four basic friendship bracelet knots, you shouldn’t have much trouble tackling this one.

One funny surprise: I originally thought I already had the perfect string bundle prepared for this project. After sitting down to knot, I realized I’d completely miscounted the strands! Instead of using leftover string, I had to cut an entirely new set. Sometimes crafting doesn’t quite go according to plan!

This bracelet was also made live for my YouTube Members before being edited into this tutorial. Thank you to all of my Members for supporting the channel and making projects like this possible!
