What can you make with leftover string? 🤔

After finishing my last bracelet, I had three shades of blue left over and decided to add three shades of purple to see what kind of pattern I could create. In this video, I experiment with friendship-bracelets.net pattern #103458, map out the colors, and figure out how the strings flow through the design before tying a single knot.

At first glance, this pattern looks fairly straightforward, but once you start tracing the colors, there’s a lot more happening beneath the surface. I also explore how changing the order of the color gradients could completely transform the finished bracelet.

In the next video, I’ll actually tie this bracelet and find out whether it’s as easy—or as challenging—as it looks!

Can a small change make a bracelet look dramatically more polished?

In this video, I tie friendship-bracelets.net pattern #103458, but with one important adjustment: I centered the pattern so it begins and ends the same way. That extra bit of symmetry gives the bracelet a much more balanced, finished look—and once you’ve made the adjustment, you can reuse it every time you make the pattern.

Along the way I talk about:

• Why symmetry matters in bracelet design
• How this compares to the rainbow hairband version I made years ago
• Why the pattern becomes much easier after the first few repeats
• Tips for segment knotting more efficiently
• How this bracelet is a great exercise for improving edge tension and consistency

Although I wouldn’t call this a beginner pattern, it’s an excellent challenge if you’re looking to improve your knot tension and keep your bracelet edges clean and straight.

It took about an hour to complete, and after a while I barely needed to look at the pattern anymore—a good sign that it’s built around a satisfying repeat.
