Designing a Gradient Arrowhead Friendship Bracelet

Can a simple color change completely transform a bracelet?

In this video, I take friendship-bracelets.net pattern #7883 and prepare it for a custom color layout. While the original pattern uses a rainbow-inspired palette, I decided to map it out with a different color flow and plan a red-to-yellow gradient using string I already have left over from another project.

Along the way, I also:

• Rotate and center the pattern for a more balanced layout.
• Walk through how each string travels across the design.
• Explain how I use color flow to check that every string ends up where it belongs.
• Share why I prefer creating reusable templates before I ever start knotting.
• Talk about a few design choices I’d make differently from the original pattern.

Even though this bracelet looks like a classic arrowhead at first glance, the details make it feel quite different—and I’m excited to see how the gradient changes the final result.

What happens when you combine a classic arrowhead pattern with a fiery color gradient?

In this video, I make friendship-bracelets.net pattern #7883, but instead of following the original color order, I create a deep red-to-yellow fade that gives the bracelet the look of rising flames.

This pattern has a unique twist on the traditional arrowhead design. Instead of simply meeting at a point, the arrows create a small four-knot diamond that gives the bracelet a distinctive texture and rhythm.

During the tutorial I talk about:

• Why using a rainbow template helped me organize a custom gradient.
• The challenges of keeping track of six fading colors.
• Why the bracelet becomes much easier once the pattern starts repeating.
• Tips for maintaining clean edges on zigzag patterns.
• How reversing the pattern in the middle creates a dramatic, flame-like effect.

The bracelet took just over an hour to complete. While I wouldn’t recommend it as a first bracelet, it’s a fun project if you’re comfortable with arrowhead-style patterns and want to practice keeping your tension consistent.
