Adapting a Bracelet Pattern… and It Turned Out Amazing!
Sometimes the best pattern experiments are the ones where you have no idea how they’ll turn out.
In this video, I take Pattern #7809 from Friendship-Bracelets.net and adapt it to one of my single-stranded, petite bracelet templates. The goal isn’t to completely redesign it—it’s to see whether the original concept works at a much smaller scale.
As I trace the string paths, one thing becomes clear: this pattern creates a really satisfying flowing effect without needing a complicated layout.

Some bracelet patterns surprise you…
…and some leave you thinking, “This could be even better.”
Today I tied Pattern #7809 from Friendship-Bracelets.net after adapting it to one of my skinny, single-stranded bracelet templates. The concept is brilliant: diamonds appear to drift back and forth across the bracelet, creating a subtle shifting effect.
The trick isn’t what I expected at all.
Instead of one zigzag weaving across the bracelet, two separate zigzags work together to create the illusion of moving boxes. Once I understood how it worked, I couldn’t wait to tie it.
The finished bracelet is fascinating—but I also came away with ideas for making the effect even stronger.

The bracelet took about 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete, and while I like the result, I don’t think this is the final version.
