I Turned This Tiny Pattern Into a Ribbon Bracelet!
Sometimes a friendship bracelet pattern has a great idea… it just needs a little redesign.
In this video, I take Pattern #7487 from Friendship-Bracelets.net and use it as inspiration for a completely new bracelet. Instead of copying it exactly, I simplify the color layout, rethink the spacing, and flip the design to create a mirrored bracelet that looks like a twisted ribbon.
Designing patterns isn’t just about drawing colors where you want them—you have to make sure every string can actually get there!

Yesterday I redesigned a friendship bracelet pattern into something completely new.
Now it’s time to see if it actually works!
Inspired by Pattern #7487 from Friendship-Bracelets.net, this version simplifies the original layout and creates a mirrored design that reminds me of a ribbon twisting back and forth across the bracelet.
The result is a slim, single-stranded bracelet that’s surprisingly easy to knot—but there are a few things to watch out for.
In this video I talk about:
- How the finished bracelet compares to the original inspiration
- Why consistent knot tension is so important on this design
- Preventing the bracelet from curving or twisting while you work
- Why I occasionally straighten the bracelet as I knot
- String usage and why the background color ended up with extra length
- Why this pattern feels fast despite its detailed appearance

This bracelet took about 1 hour and 22 minutes to complete and quickly became one of my favorite skinny bracelet designs.
