Dragon Scales with a Twist

Hey everyone! Kevin here – aka AWOL – and today we’re diving into a unique two-color friendship bracelet pattern: #98600. 🧶 This one’s got serious zigzag energy and a layout that looks like dragon scales by the end!

I’m breaking it down step-by-step:
🔹 Flipping and remixing the pattern for a custom twist
🔹 Deciding where the variegated floss might work best
🔹 Why you don’t always need a pattern number to get started
🔹 Tips on color balancing (even when it gets weird!)
🔹 Live problem-solving to figure out where all those tricky strands go

If you’ve ever seen a bracelet photo and thought, “How do I recreate that?” — this is your guide. ✨

Hey crafters! Kevin (aka AWOL) here, and today we’re tackling Pattern #98600 — a bold, two-color creation that almost got lost in the blend! 🧵 Kumi #4118 features a subtle contrast that made setting up the pattern a bit tricky, but the results are dragon-scale dreamy! 🐉

This bracelet flips halfway, and while that made me count segments a few too many times (ADHD brain, anyone?), the pattern really worked itself out beautifully. The variegated thread did most of the heavy lifting this time, so if you’re working this one, don’t skimp on length!

🧠 Difficulty: Easy-Intermediate (watch out for left-right, right-left knots!)
⏱ Time: 1 hour 6 minutes
🧶 Variegated floss lovers — this one’s for you. Think mirrored, dynamic, and very fun to segment knot.

I also dive into why I prefer my pattern templates over traditional ones and how zooming out can sometimes give you the best view. Give it a try and let me know if you agree!
