Fishbone Fade 2.0: Hot Colors + 16 Strings = A Whole New Vibe | Bracelet Design from Scratch

We’re taking the original 12-string fishbone fade bracelet and upgrading it to 16 strings, swapping the blues for a bold hot-color fade—red, orange, yellow, and light yellow—and redesigning the pattern from the ground up in GIMP. This isn’t just a color swap—it’s a structural redesign.

🎨 Key Differences:

4-color fade (vs. 3 in the original)

16 strings, single strand (vs. doubled floss)

Redesigned pattern using symmetry and row planning

Subtle changes in knot placement = bold visual shifts

🧵 Not beginner-friendly, but totally worth it if you’re into pattern creation and exploring variations. The repetition makes it meditative, and the fade effect is buttery smooth.

Today’s bracelet is the third evolution of an idea that started just a couple days ago—and it might be the most beautiful yet.

This time, we took the 16-string hot color fishbone design and made it thinner by using single strands instead of doubled floss. The result? A sleek, delicate bracelet with finer lines and a more blended gradient—from a pinkish-purple to red, orange, and yellow. The black background fades beautifully, letting the color fade shine front and center.

🎯 Highlights:

Single-stranded 16-string setup with kumi loop (8-strand start)

Fade: Pink-Purple > Red > Orange > Yellow

More subtle, blended effect thanks to finer lines

Built on earlier patterns but reshaped in structure & feel

⏱️ Took just under 2 hours to make, with some help from my trusty clicker (even if I did forget to click a few times 😅).

🧵 Tip: If you’re using thinner strands, you may not need as much string. Black strands get used the most, as always.
