Starting a Bracelet in the CENTER?! 6-Color Figure 8 Design
What happens if you don’t start your friendship bracelet at the top? 🤔
In this tutorial, I take a design we’ve already explored—and completely flip the process. Instead of beginning with a teardrop loop, we start right in the middle and build outward using 6 colors to create a bold figure-eight centerpiece with balanced hot and cold tones.
This approach creates a completely different look from the original version—even though it’s based on the same core idea. That’s the magic of bracelet design: small changes = BIG results.
💡 In this video, you’ll learn:
- How to design from the center outward
- How to map and “trust the process” with underlying strings
- How color placement affects symmetry and flow
- How to transform an existing pattern into something brand new
This is a great step if you’re ready to move beyond just following patterns and start designing your own bracelets.

Can the same bracelet pattern look completely different? 🤔
Absolutely—and this is proof.
Today we’re revisiting Pattern 1888 from friendship-bracelets.net, but instead of starting at the top like before, we flip everything and begin from the center outward with a diamond start.
The result?
A bracelet that barely even looks like the same design.
💡 In this video, you’ll discover:
- How starting point changes EVERYTHING in a bracelet
- How to use templates to reimagine existing patterns
- A simple segment knotting strategy to speed up your workflow
- Why color experimentation can completely transform your results
⏱️ This 12-string bracelet took just over an hour—right around average—but the efficiency tricks here can help you stay organized and make smoother progress.
🎨 We also explore a softer, toned-down rainbow palette (instead of bold colors), giving the bracelet a kind of sun-faded vibe that hits totally different.
And yes… there’s a figure 8 in the center of pattern 1888 👀
Coincidence? Or the luckiest bracelet ever? 🍀
