Blue and Red Friendship Bracelet Bag

From the image above I was able to sort out the first three loops. The bonus is it repeats so the next two sets of loops are the same. The count for the colors is one each of the colors further to the edge and two each of the others. Perhaps you can see how it joins with a single color from the previous loop. This is all possible because of how I double my floss. That single strand in the Kumi becomes two strands in the work itself.

This image shows how the pattern interlocks each color. It’s a bit simple 3-1-2-1 and then back to the 3 again. But don’t be lulled into thinking it’s so easy; it’s really easy to make mistakes. This is an advanced pattern.

Getting all the strings prepped like this made getting the floss for the Kumis really fast and easy.

One loop complete and you should be able to tell why there is just one strand of the colors on the end and two of all the rest.

Here you can see how the single color joins with the next loop. This level of planning ahead is necessary if you want something this complex.

Three loops or one set if you will. I’m considering another bag like this but with only six loops. Three loops would just be too small to be useful.

Four loops! You may notice that the colors are the same in the sets on both ends.

Six loops, at this point the ends could be joined and made into a bag for a cell phone or something.

Nine loops! It’s so wide it hangs off the board, but that’s nothing to worry about because you can only work on an area at a time and then you can move the project to have the area you are working on be beneath the clips.

Joined but only part way threw the second set.

Second set complete!

Third set completed!

These are the replaced strands left on the inside that have to get trimmed off.

Last photo before I did the base.

To finish off the base I went from nine diamonds tapering down to three, using as few added knots as possible. This was a good thing as when I added floss I wasn’t adding 1/3 of a skein, but rather 1/6 lengths and there was very little of it left by the time I was finished.
