Adding Text to Friendship Bracelets
So I started out experimenting on how to incorporate characters into friendship bracelets without resorting to using alphas, because that’s really not my thing. If you’ve been following my work, you’d know that I made a phone/spectacles case that was also a nod to the retro game, Space Invaders.
I wanted to explore it further with names, initials, words… Then I thought, hey, I could try even doing a double-sided thing, so I began plotting…
In the video above, I explained how I set this up.
It starts with an equal number of colors and what will be the background. It the Space Invaders case this was just two colors. In the AWOL one, there were 5 colors used twice over and a blue that would serve as the background. The number of strings used is really dependant on what your content will be. Bigger words need more string. Note, the strings that continue in straight lines will get used at a faster rate.
This second video is a quick view of a few hours of work. Is it giving you ideas on what you could explore?
Great! Is there anything about this you need help with or have questions about? Add comments for me either below, or in the YouTube videos’ comments section. I’ll address those questions in a final video, which will be used to wrap up this tutorial with.
