Planning a Dual-Fade Fancy Candy Bracelet

Hey there, Kevin here (aka AWOL), and today I’m taking you behind the scenes as I puzzle through a brand new Fancy Candy bracelet pattern—this time with a dual fade: blue on one side, brown on the other. 🌊🤎

Here’s the thing… I had two big creative questions:

Should the colors fade light to dark then dark to light, or light to dark throughout?

How do I align those fades for max visual payoff—especially with the boxy diamond shapes in the center?

This pattern builds on the same cube-based format as the last Fancy Candy design, but I’m pushing the concept even further by integrating color fades into the symmetry of the boxes. 🔲➡️🔳

I walk you through my thinking step-by-step, from laying out the string placement to testing how the fades interact across rows. It’s part color theory, part instinct, and a little bit of “throw down some string and see what happens.” 😅

Hey hey! Kevin here—aka AWOL—and today we’re wrapping up the Fancy Candy mini-series with a bang. This one takes the simple candy stripe idea and flips it on its head with stunning fade-based diamond contrasts running down the center. 💎✨

We’re working with two full color fades—brown from light to dark, and blue from dark to light. The contrast comes to life where the lightest of one fade cuts across the darkest of the other, creating a glowing effect that really pops!

This bracelet: 🔷 Uses just right and left knots
🔶 Is perfect for segment knotting (and a great way to learn it!)
🧵 Took just 72 minutes to make
🎨 Was made entirely from scrap strings!

And while it’s beginner-friendly, the end result looks anything but basic. In fact, with only 3 big diamonds and 2 small ones per color, it never feels repetitive and stays engaging from start to finish.

✨ Color Planning Bonus: The way the fades align with the diamond pattern creates subtle surprises—like the braids at the end incorporating both color families for a totally unique finish. 💙🤎
