This Pattern BROKE Me | Blindsided Creations #16704

What do you do when your whole video fails… but you already put hours into redesigning a beast of a pattern? You make the best of it. 😅

In today’s Blindsided Creation, I tackle pattern #16704 from BraceletBook—originally sent in by Minute_Craft—and WOW… this one was a struggle. The original design uses stretched strings across empty spaces (not a fan!) and tons of direction changes that make the whole thing trickier than it needs to be. So, I reworked it.

✅ Modified layout
✅ Adjusted color flow
✅ Smoothed out some of the chaos
…but it’s still kind of a nightmare, lol.

We’ll talk about how I redesigned it, the reasoning behind zigzags (ugh), and some of the frustrating quirks that make this kind of bracelet feel more complex than it looks. If you love a challenge, this one’s for you.

Let’s just say this bracelet and I didn’t exactly get along. 😅

Today’s Blindsided Creation features pattern #16704 from BraceletBook, submitted by Minute_Craft—and while it looked cool on paper, it turned into a cautionary tale in real life.

From confusing cut-ins and buttonholes that serve no real purpose, to zigzag knot overload and a design that’s impossible to follow without marking your place after every row… yeah. This one was a bit of a chore.

⏱️ Time to complete: 114 minutes
📏 Strings used: 18 (and a whole lot of patience)

Despite all that, I did learn a few things—like how buttonholes might work better in bags or covers, and how reducing strand complexity saved this from being a total fail. I even got inspired to remix it into something better later. 🤷‍♂️

Check it out if you’re curious how cool ideas can go sideways—and maybe walk away with a few design lessons of your own.
