I Turned a Basic Arrowhead Pattern into THIS?! Pattern 4003 Remix
Today we’re taking a classic arrowhead pattern (4003)… and completely remixing it.
Instead of just following the original layout, I wanted to push it further—starting from the center, building a bold diamond, and reworking the entire flow into something unique.
Oh—and we’re doing it in 🌈 rainbow colors.
In this video, I walk through:
How to re-orient and transform a pattern before you even start
Why starting from the center changes everything
Mapping string paths by following direction (instead of guessing)
Using symmetry to save time (build half → mirror it)
Balancing warm vs cool colors across a design
Turning a repeating pattern into something completely original
💡 Key idea: You don’t have to follow patterns exactly. Once you understand how they work, you can remix them into something no one else has made before.
🧵 What Makes This One Special
Long arrowhead segments that stretch across the bracelet
A dominant central color that defines the whole piece
A rainbow flow where colors swap roles (lines → diamonds → accents)
A layout that doesn’t just repeat like the original
This is where bracelet-making turns into actual design.
🎨 Design Insight
If you ever feel stuck:
Start with the obvious paths first (the long strings), and everything else will fall into place.

This bracelet started as pattern 4003… but the real goal wasn’t just to make it.
It was to change it.
In this video, we dive into:
Why small pattern tweaks can completely transform a bracelet
How different strings get used very differently (and how to plan for that)
Why orange and red dominate this design (and what that means for cutting string)
How repeating arrowhead structures can evolve into totally new designs
The mindset shift from following patterns → creating your own
💡 Big idea: You always have choices.
You can simplify a pattern, make it more complex, or remix only the parts you like.
🧵 Important Insight (Don’t Skip This)
Not all strings are used equally.
In this bracelet:
Orange = used almost the entire time
Red = second most used
Other colors = significantly less
👉 If you’ve ever run out of string mid-project… this is why.
🎨 Design Philosophy
This is what I really want to teach:
You’re not limited to:
❌ “Where do I start?”
❌ “What pattern number is this?”
You can:
✔️ Take a section you like
✔️ Add something to make it easier
✔️ Rearrange the flow
✔️ Create something completely unique
Even small changes—like the number of diamonds or color placement—can turn one design into something entirely new.
🧠 Beginner Tip
If you’re just starting:
Start simple.
Candy stripe → chevron → variations
Build confidence first
Then work your way into more complex designs like this one
Jumping too far ahead is the fastest way to get frustrated.
