This Pattern Is Deceptively Tricky

Hey, it’s Kevin (aka AWOL), and today we’re tackling pattern #103437 from friendship-bracelets.net—another two-color design that turned out trickier than expected! I dive deep into the layout process using my custom template, walk through color placement, and even make an executive design decision to trim the top row for a cleaner, more balanced finish. 💡 🎨 Not sure what colors to use? I wasn’t either! Yellow and black didn’t win me over, but they helped show how important string usage is—some strings in this pattern get heavily used, so be sure to cut them longer. ⚠️ Is this pattern good for segment knotting? Probably not—but we’ll find out together in tomorrow’s knotting video!

Hey everyone! It’s Kevin (aka AWOL), and we’re wrapping up pattern #103437 from friendship-bracelets.net—this time with a strong two-color combo featuring a variegated floss that added just the right amount of unpredictability! 🌈

This bracelet starts with a clean, easy diamond section and moves into trickier zigzag sections that really make it pop. It’s not quite beginner-friendly, but not intimidating either—just enough challenge to keep it interesting.

🧵 Pattern: #103437
🌀 Kumi Loop: Pattern #4950
🎨 Colors Used: Solid pink + variegated red (part of a sampler set!)

📝 Key Takeaways:

Strong contrast is essential with variegated floss to avoid muddiness.

Some strands are used more than others—cut your heavy-use strings longer!

Mistakes are part of the process—even I misjudge these sometimes.

Don’t underestimate the power of symmetrical ends for a clean, finished look.
