Isolated Variegated Floss Makes This Bracelet Pop!
Hey folks, Kevin here—aka AWOL—and today I’m walking you through my setup and color planning process for pattern #10185 from friendship-bracelets.net
. This one’s a little unique—it alternates 2-stripe and 3-stripe segments and isolates the variegated floss in a really clean way.
🧶 What makes this one stand out?
The variegated floss stays separated, letting it shine without overpowering the pattern
Slight asymmetry in the design requires thoughtful string placement
Very beginner-friendly once it’s mapped out—no complicated knots here!
I custom-built the pattern layout for clarity, using my usual setup to visualize spacing and colors
🎨 Went with a brown-to-gold variegated floss, boxed in by a dark brown background for contrast. This gives it a rich, earthy look without sacrificing readability or style. It’s all about balance, right?
💡 And yes—if you ever feel lost using other pattern generators, you’re not alone. That’s why I create layouts that make string starting positions and color flow easier to follow.
🙏 Big thanks to my YouTube Members—this entire sampler experiment wouldn’t be possible without you! We’re nearly at the end of the floss pack, but I’ve loved this journey and the creativity it’s sparked.

Hey everyone! Kevin here—aka AWOL—and today we’re finishing up a beautiful and balanced bracelet based on pattern #10185 from friendship-bracelets.net
. This one surprised me with how simple yet visually striking it turned out!
✨ What’s interesting about this pattern?
The variegated floss is isolated, framed by solid background colors—making the color shifts pop without getting muddy.
Slightly unbalanced setup (3 solids, 2 variegated on one side) keeps the pattern dynamic and flowing.
Top-to-bottom symmetry makes it incredibly satisfying to follow visually.
Segmented build = easy to track your progress row by row.
Ideal for beginners practicing how to straighten a bracelet mid-build.
🎨 I went with a rich, earthy palette—gold-brown variegated floss bordered with deep brown for contrast. Could’ve gone bolder, but I love the subtle warmth of the result.
🧵 Bonus: The strings used up evenly without needing direction swaps or advanced knotting. It’s forgiving, clean, and great for learning the basics while producing something genuinely nice.
🎥 In the background: that kumi is pattern #6170 from the same site—subtle, but a great match.
🙏 Huge thanks to my YouTube Members—you made this entire variegated sampler journey possible. We’re nearly at the end of the pack, so I’ll be asking for ideas soon for what comes next.
