20 Strings, 5 Colors: Breaking Down the Next Arrowhead + Zigzag Bracelet

We’re stepping it down again — from 32 to 24 and now to 20 strings and 5 colors. In this video, I’m laying the groundwork for the latest asymmetrical design, keeping the arrowhead on one side and zigzag on the other.

💡 This one is a bit of a design theory session:
🧠 How I simplify the layout for beginners
🎨 Why I use rainbow colors for drafting
📐 The fascinating symmetry that keeps popping up in the center lines
🧶 And yes — the actual bracelet will be a blue fade!

Even though this is a planning video, it’s packed with insight for anyone designing their own patterns. And yep, filling these out takes hours, so big thanks to the YouTube Members for keeping the string (and coffee) flowing.

This bracelet took me 2 hours and 52 minutes — and I finally figured out why. With 5 colors and 20 single-stranded strings, this design seems simpler than the 24 or 32 string versions… but don’t be fooled. The edge math got weird — and I think I cracked the code.

🧶 Edge details shifted due to odd color count
🪢 More knots per inch = longer build time
🔁 Surprisingly balanced string use across the pattern
💡 Plus tips for avoiding tangle stress and finding your perfect string length

This one’s great for advanced beginners ready to challenge their muscle memory. If you’re used to the “two in, one out” zigzag flow, the edge structure here may surprise you!
