Inventing a New Arrowhead Bracelet Pattern
Hey everyone, it’s Kevin (aka AWOL), and today I’m taking you along as I invent a brand-new arrowhead-inspired bracelet design—live, unscripted, and with absolutely no idea how it’ll turn out.
🧠 The idea? A simplified arrowhead where each color only makes a small square before passing the baton to the next. No massive zigzags. No segment knotting. Just clean, progressive stacking.

- See how I build this pattern from scratch using graph paper
- Follow along as I trace string paths and figure out flow
- Learn why symmetry and simple diamonds make design way easier
- Hear how this connects back to my early days of bracelet making in ’88
🎨 Colors used range from light blue through orange and magenta to deep purple and dark blue—classic rainbow flow with a controlled, clean layout. Honestly, I’m shocked I never tried this before!
⚠️ I think this one might be sneakily harder than it looks. But hey, if you like experimenting and playing with your own patterns, this is a perfect place to start.

Hey everyone, it’s Kevin (aka AWOL), and today I’m revealing the results of a bracelet built around a new arrowhead variant—one I’d never tried before.
Unlike the arrowhead style I’m used to, this version adds a small square or “mini-diamond” after the main diamond in the center. And honestly? It threw me off a bit. This design requires both sides of the bracelet to work together early on, especially in the second half. That made it trickier to manage than the more segmented styles I usually prefer.
🧵 In this video:
- What made this arrowhead layout different from the classic version
- How I worked around the need to bring in both sides of the bracelet at once
- Tips on cutting string economically (this one uses nearly equal lengths!)
- Why I’ll probably keep using that big diamond in the center going forward
🎨 Colorwise: The green, yellow, and orange flow beautifully together. Add in the bold reds, fuchsia, and dark blues, and you’ve got a bracelet that feels almost like a glowing eye or a starburst effect.
📏 Time: Just over 2 hours to make
