Turning a 2-Color Bracelet into a 6-Color Design! (Pattern #1207 Experiment)

Today we’re doing something a little different. Instead of starting from scratch, we’re taking a pattern I already made — Pattern #1207 from friendship-bracelets.net — and experimenting with the colors.

Originally, this bracelet was designed as a two-color pattern, but when I studied the string paths earlier, I had a feeling it might actually support six different colors. Since it’s a 12-string bracelet, that means we could potentially assign a unique color to each pair of strings.

So today’s experiment is simple:
Follow the natural path of each string and see if the pattern can be expanded into a full rainbow design.

Here’s the color order I tested:

🔴 Red
🟠 Orange
🟡 Yellow
🟢 Green
🔵 Blue
🟣 Purple

While mapping the strings, something interesting happened — the colors started forming layered diamonds and shapes around the center, giving the bracelet a much more dynamic look than the original two-color version.

In this video you’ll see:

  • How to modify an existing bracelet pattern
  • Tracing the natural paths of strings through a design
  • Turning a 2-color bracelet into a 6-color experiment
  • How symmetry and mirroring reveal the final pattern

The result is a bracelet that feels way more colorful and energetic, while still following the same underlying structure.

Next step: actually tying the bracelet and seeing how difficult it is to keep the rows straight with all these colors.

What happens when you take a two-color friendship bracelet pattern and turn it into six colors?

Today we’re tying Pattern #1207 from friendship-bracelets.net, but with a twist. The original pattern only uses two colors, but after studying the string paths I suspected it could actually support six different colors.

So I redesigned the pattern… and it worked! 🎉

Instead of a simple alternating design, the bracelet now creates colorful diamonds and zigzag shapes that move across the bracelet. The final result ended up looking surprisingly familiar too — I’m pretty sure I’ve seen bracelets with a similar design before on places like Reddit or Instagram.

That’s the fun part of bracelet design: sometimes a hidden pattern is sitting inside another pattern, just waiting to be discovered by changing the colors.

In this video you’ll see:

  • How Pattern #1207 transforms with six colors
  • The zigzag sections you need to watch carefully while tying
  • Why flipping the pattern in the middle improves the symmetry
  • String usage tips for this bracelet

Bracelet details:

  • Pattern base: #1207
  • Colors used: 6
  • Time to make: ~ 1 hour
  • Difficulty: Intermediate

One important note:
Some colors are used more than others. In my bracelet red and orange were used the most, while green and yellow were used the least. If you’re cutting strings carefully, you may want to plan for that difference.

I did actually have to restart this bracelet once after misreading the pattern near the middle, so what you see in the video is the successful second attempt!

Huge thank you to my YouTube Members who help make these experiments possible — from supporting the channel to helping troubleshoot gear during livestreams.
